GRANT TOWN —
Officials are looking to clean up abandoned and old buildings in Grant Town.
During Monday’s council meeting, councilman Charles Rosie talked about an ordinance dealing with building codes.
“We already have an ordinance that was passed in 2005,” he said.
Rosie said the current ordinance may need to be changed because some of the state laws have changed.
“The ordinance is for removal or repair of any buildings or structures threatening to be a public nuisance,” he said.
Rosie said the only thing council is interested in is removing old and abandoned structures.
“We’re going to get this town cleaned up,” he said.
Also discussed at the meeting was Grant Town’s fall clean-up.
The clean-up will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
Dumpsters will be located at Paw Paw Street with town employees at the site to accept items from Grant Town residents.
