There are no changes in Mannington’s levy rates.
During Tuesday’s meeting, council approved the levy rates that are the same as last year.
Class I rates were approved at 11.48 per $100; Class II rates are 22.96 per $100; Class IV rates are 45.92 per $100.
Michele Fluharty, city clerk, said the council meeting was held on Tuesday because they had to have a levy rate meeting on the third Tuesday of the month, so they combined the two meetings.
Also discussed at the meeting was renovations that will be done on the Hough Park Pool. Marion County Commission President Randy Elliott suggested to councilwoman Christina Dunigan that the Park Board apply for a Community Participation Grant.
Dunigan said at a minimum, renovations will cost about $40,000. Elliott told council that he feels Dunigan has done a great job working on the park.
“I want to compliment the hard work that Christina has done up there,” Elliott said. “The place is beautiful and it’s been a ton of hard work; it’s something to be proud of.”
Dunigan said she is going to submit an application for the grant as soon as possible.
