FAIRMONT — A fire on Fairmont Avenue Tuesday night is still under investigation and the full extent of the damage has yet to be assessed, but for the agencies that made their home in the McCoy Building, the effects are very clear.

“We’ve been going through an awful lot of issues that we have to deal with,” said Fairmont Community Development Partnership Executive Director Bob Gribben. The FCDP renovated the McCoy Building in 2001 and used the bottom floor as a headquarters.

According to Fairmont Fire Chief Jim Emerick, the fire broke out around 8:45 p.m. in the second-floor apartments. When firefighters arrived, they were greeted with heavy smoke that quickly escalated into visible flames.
