The death of a Fairmont man at his residence on June 8, 2013, has been linked to a Bridgeport physician and Fairmont resident who was arrested Thursday on charges of felony offense of conspiracy to distribute Schedule II, III and IV controlled substances.
According to the 14-page criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg, Dr. Edita Milan was arrested by the Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force after a surveillance that lasted for several months.
Milan, who resides at 417 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, was “overprescribing narcotics to several of her patients, some of the people receiving narcotics from her were not being seen by Dr. Milan in the normal course of a legitimate medical practice and some of her employees were diverting controlled substances through improper prescribing practices.”
