MANNINGTON — Consol Energy is really proud of its new Northern West Virginia Water Treatment Facility in Mannington.
“The world is looking at this facility down the road to figure out what they can do to mimic or make what we’ve accomplished,” Nicholas Deluliis, president of Consol Energy, said during a dedication ceremony and press conference Thursday with local, state and federal dignitaries and company representatives.
Water from Consol’s Blacksville No. 2, Loveridge and Robinson Run mining operations is brought to this centralized facility, located on Dents Run Road, to be treated.
Construction began on the facility in April 2011 and was completed in May of this year. The total project is valued at $200 million, and the plant will have a minimum operational life of 25 years.
