Food pantries pick up first part of Gift of Love donations

FAIRMONT — “A real blessing!”

That’s the way representatives of 11 of Marion County’s food pantries described the food they received Friday from the Gift of Love food drive.

“The need is greater than ever.”

Representatives from 11 food pantries visited the Times West Virginian Friday to pick up their food donations — or at least half of it.

Everyone seems most appreciative of the food and money collected in the Gift of Love food drive.

Just under $15,000 has been collected thus far, and Shop ’n Save needed to place another food order to meet the newspaper’s needs. So more food will be distributed next week.

The Times West Virginian’s fifth annual food drive has been its most successful yet.
