Changes made to school calendar

FAIRMONT — Because of snow days, Marion County students and employees will have to make up several days before the end of the school year.

Randy Farley, administrative assistant of curriculum, technology and instruction for Marion County Schools, said the school calendar is sent home with students on the first day of school, and the possible makeup days for weather are marked on those sheets. Parents know that those days could be used as instructional days instead of days off for students.

So far this year, school has been closed for five days — Oct. 30, Feb. 1, Feb. 4, Feb. 5 and March 6 — because of weather conditions.
