Grant Town adds police officer

‘A big deterrent for vandalism and nighttime offenses’

FAIRMONT — For a long time, Grant Town Police Chief Matt Biggie and his police dog Czar have been the town’s sole law enforcement, and they’ve done a great job with the resources at hand.

Now, the department is expanding. Grant Town recently hired a new police officer, Sgt. Elizabeth Church, bringing its police department up to two officers.

Three if you count Czar.

Grant Town Police Chief Matt Biggie says it’s making a big difference in what the department is able to do.

One person can’t be on patrol 24 hours a day, so adding an additional officer means times previously left uncovered can now have police protection.
