For the second time since October, a Marion County motel was robbed at gunpoint.
The suspect was caught and is now in the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
According to the criminal complaint filed at Marion County Magistrate Court, Scott Douglas Kirby, 38, of 45 Garnet Way, Bridgeport, was arrested and charged with felony armed robbery for holding up the Red Roof Inn in White Hall at 9:51 p.m. Tuesday.
Armed with pepper spray and a baton, Kirby entered the motel and told the clerk “it would be in her best interest to do what she is told,” according to the report. He allegedly told her to give him everything from the cashier drawer and vault. The clerk told him she could not open the vault.
He allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money and left the scene on a bicycle.
The White Hall Police Department is investigating.
The sheriff’s department said Kirby was carrying pepper spray and a police baton when state police arrested him.
Kirby is currently in the North Central Regional Jail
“Units were sent a description of the male, who was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask,” said White Hall Police Chief Geno Guerrieri.
