FAIRMONT — Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College security officers are still working with Fairmont Police Department officers to locate a missing 17-year-old believed to be suicidally depressed and potentially dangerous.

Sources within the college say the young man, described as a white male with sandy blonde hair, about 5-10 and 180 pounds, has not yet been located.

The Fairmont Police Department could not be reached for comment.

Sarah Hensley, vice president for community engagement at Pierpont, said commencement rehearsal for Pierpont graduates had been canceled because of the search. Administration will determine around 5 p.m. whether graduation will continue as scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

Nearby schools Fairmont Senior High, Jayenne Elementary, Watson Elementary, West Fairmont Middle School and Barrackville Middle were placed on a code yellow alert, meaning students were still able to move within their building but could not go outside for lunch or recess.
