Horton not guilty on all four counts

Jury deliberates most of day Friday

FAIRMONT — Not guilty on all four counts.

A Marion County jury acquitted William Michael Horton Jr. of two counts each of nighttime burglary and first-degree robbery carried over from a December 2011 trial stemming from a botched robbery attempt in June 2010.

The six-man, six-woman panel deliberated from 9 a.m. to shortly before 5 p.m. Friday before reaching its decision, ending a trial that had begun Wednesday afternoon.

In the audience, his family wept openly with joy after hearing the verdict.

“God is good,” one said, her voice thick with emotion as tears streamed down her face.
