Weather contributes to dozens of accidents

FAIRMONT — More than two dozen accidents have been reported in Marion County this morning.

Dispatchers at Marion County Central Communications say Tuesday’s string of accidents is due to the weather.

Dispatchers reported that eight of the accidents occurred at the same time within a four-mile stretch on Interstate 79. There were no reports of serious injuries.

According to the National Weather Service, Marion County remains under a winter weather advisory until 11 a.m. Tuesday. The hazards include snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches, tapering off between 10 and 11 a.m. The National Weather Service warns drivers to prepare for snow-covered roads and lowered visibilities. Caution while driving is also suggested.
