WHITE HALL — Save-A-Lot opened the doors of its new location in White Hall to customers Monday for its grand opening.

The grocery store remains in the Middletown Mall Plaza, the same place as its previous location, but it is now situated directly next door to Shop ’n Save.

Rich Poff, store manager, said the advantage to the new location is convenience.

“This is an opportunity to make the shopping experience a lot easier for our customers because they have the opportunity to shop both stores without a lot of hassle or having to drive from one location to another,” Poff said.

Jamie Fincke, the store’s vice president, said the grand opening was the culmination of the move, which had been an ongoing process for the past six months.

“We’re really excited about it,” Fincke said. “Customer response has been really great.”

Grand opening sales are taking place through April 13.

According to Fincke, Save-A-Lot is able to offer quality food at a discounted price while its neighbor, Shop ’n Save, has the offerings of a typical supermarket. He said one major difference is that Save-A-Lot carries about 1,600 private label items while a typical grocery store may carry 35,000 items, mainly national brands.

“The private labels is what Save-A-Lot has,” Fincke said. “Most people, if they try it, will find it’s just as good as the national brand equivalents in almost every case.”
