April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA, a non-profit organization that aims to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children, will be hosting a 5K run to support the cause.
Known as the Superhero 5K, the event is a culmination of the efforts of CASA organizations from Marion, Harrison, Monongalia and Preston counties.
Kimberly Berry-Baker, the executive director of CASA of Marion County, said that the tagline for the event is, “Every child needs a hero, but abused children need superheroes.”
The race is set to take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the East Marion Park/Alan Mollohan Gateway Connector.
