‘Stream Cleanup Day’ planned in Fairmont

Volunteers will pick up litter and debris in Coal Run Hollow area

FAIRMONT — The City of Fairmont will host its second annual “Stream Cleanup Day” on Thursday as part of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s “Make It Shine” program.

David Sago, city utility manager, said the goal of the cleanup is to improve the condition of the Coal Run Hollow area. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and volunteers will meet at the Mid City Parking Lot. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided and lunch and drinks will be served.

“It will be general cleanup,” Sago said. “Picking up litter and collection of debris.”
