Police probe Locust Avenue armed robbery

FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place on Locust Avenue late Monday night. No one was injured in the course of the event.

According to Police Detective E. Hudson, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Mountaineer Mart at about 11:35 p.m. A white male allegedly “entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk.”

The suspect reportedly fled on foot. The amount of money stolen has not been released.
