Students from the Mushin Do dojo made Marion County proud last week when they participated in a national tournament.
Nine local martial artists went to Greenville, S.C., from July 11 through July 14 to compete in the national tournament sponsored by the USA National Karate-do Federation (USANKF). The students qualified for the tournament in February during a tournament in St. Albans sending them to a national tournament for the first time.
Three Senseis from Mushin Do including Sensei Larry Rogers, Sensei Jason Carr, and Sensei Marshal Sherry also went to the tournament to coach their students.
Sherry said after four days of competition at the national tournament, four students placed in the top three of their specific age groups and categories.
