Prescription drugs can be safely disposed

Take-back day will be held next Saturday

FAIRMONT — Every day, an estimated 2,500 teenagers begin to abuse prescription medications, according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America and government statistics.

For the majority of these kids, that fateful pill isn’t coming from a hardened criminal drug dealer. It comes out of a bottle in the house or from a well-meaning family member.

The Marion County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Fairmont Police and White Hall Police departments, is providing a Drug Take-Back Day at multiple Marion County locations on Saturday, April 27 for people to safely and anonymously dispose of prescription drugs they no longer need.
