Responders quickly knock down flames

Locust Avenue house fire doesn’t spread to adjoining apartments

FAIRMONT — A fire on Locust Avenue Wednesday afternoon was swiftly dealt with by the Fairmont Fire Department.

No one was injured.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 4:15 p.m. after the incident was reported to the Marion County 911 dispatchers.

When they arrived on scene, responders were confronted by heavy smoke rolling out of the downstairs windows, said Chief Jim Emerick, and it was classified over the dispatch as a “working structure fire.”
