FAIRMONT — An upcoming job fair is focused on finding the perfect match for veterans.

U.S. Rep. David McKinley, R-W.Va., is offering a Veterans Jobs Fair in conjunction with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and This free event, designed for any veteran in the U.S. military who is seeking employment, will take place from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Clarksburg Armory.

McKinley held an employment fair last year in Morgantown, which attracted hundreds of veterans, said Jim Forbes, director of communications for the congressman’s office.

“When we did this the first time, we had an overwhelming response from our veterans,” he said. “(They) thanked us and wanted this to continue.”

McKinley wants to make this an annual event and hold the activities in a different city in the district each year, Forbes said.

He encouraged veterans to arrive at the Clarksburg Armory as if they’re coming to a job interview, dressed accordingly and with their resume in hand. More than 60 vendors will be present, including companies like the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory, Consol Energy and WVU Healthcare, to name a few.
