Cheslock honored as state’s Court Reporter of the Year

FAIRMONT — For 30 years, Terri R. Cheslock has faithfully and accurately reported every word uttered in countless trials and hearings in the Marion County Circuit Court.

She was honored by being named the Court Reporter of the Year by her peers of the West Virginia Official Court Reporters Association, at the recent fall conference at Lakeview.

She is the official court reporter, Division I, Marion County Circuit Court, 16th Judicial Circuit for Judge Michael Aloi and is employed by West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.

She is not a court recorder, she says off the bat.

“We report — not record — all the proceedings in the court room. When someone asks for transcript, we have to prepare that transcript, and that is how the Supreme Court gets the case.
