Everything’s better with bacon.
If you don’t believe that, just ask North Marion High School sophomore Justin McNay. He brought home a state award and a nice check for some very nice bacon from a hog he raised.
McNay won the State Grand Champion Bacon at the state’s annual Future Farmers of America Ham, Bacon and Egg show in Charleston recently.
Not only did McNay’s bacon win the grand champion title, it sold at auction for $800 per pound to Kroger of Charleston. He brought home $5,600 for his seven-pound slab of bacon.
Marion County FFA advisor Larry Watson said that was a county record.
