One arrested following police pursuit

FAIRMONT — One person was arrested following a low-speed police pursuit in Fairmont on Monday afternoon.

Fairmont police chief Kelley Moran said the vehicle involved in the chase matched the description of a car witnesses saw leaving the scene of a shots fired complaint on Howard Avenue near the City of Fairmont Wastewater Plant on the evening of Friday, Aug. 30.

When police officers attempted to do a traffic stop on the car Monday afternoon, the driver fled. According to Kelley, the pursuit began on Fairmont Avenue before the car was finally stopped on Hillside Drive.

“It was a very short pursuit, but the driver was driving recklessly,” Moran said.

Moran said two guns were thrown out a window of the vehicle while it was in motion.

In addition, Moran said the driver of the car was 15 years old and did not possess a driver’s license. Two passengers were inside the vehicle, one of which was also a juvenile. The individuals have not been identified.
