Marion County Superintendent of Schools Gary Price said, despite a massive search for a missing teen in the West Fairmont area, school in Marion County went on largely as scheduled.
“We were able to have a normal dismissal at the end of the day,” Price said. “We were able to close the day without incident.”
Price said five schools — Fairmont Senior High, West Fairmont Middle, Watson Elementary, Jayenne Elementary and Barrackville Middle — were placed on a code yellow alert, meaning people were not allowed to enter or leave the building, but were able to change classes and have a normal day outside of that.
Fairmont police even sent officers to monitor a junior track meet after schools dismissed, he said.
