Fairmont man arrested as fugitive from justice from state of Virginia

FAIRMONT — A Marion County man was arrested June 20 by Fairmont police as a fugitive from justice from the state of Virginia.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Marion County Magistrate Court, Kevin Lee Gregory, 42, of 309 Fourth St., Fairmont, had been investigated by E.P. Hudson working as a member of the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force.

Gregory was wanted by the State of Virginia for the offense of Register, Fail: SVO or Murder Conviction. He is required to register as a sex offender in Virginia for a conviction on July 13, 2004, of carnal knowledge of a child 13-15 years old. He is classified as a sexually violent predator in Virginia and was entered in the NCIC as a wanted person.

Through investigation, it was confirmed that he had been in Fairmont since June 1, 2013. He fled from uniformed officers on foot before being arrested.

• A Marion County man was arrested June 19 by Grant Town police and charged with sexual assault in the first degree.

Bruce Lee Clayton, 19, of 2642 Jamison Road, Fairview, was visiting relatives in Grant Town around July 7, 2012, with a male juvenile who was 11 years old at the time.

According to the complaint, Clayton tried to put his hands down the pants of the youth, who then tried to run away. But Clayton caught up with the youth and allegedly pushed him down a hill into a wooded area near Paw Paw Creek and train tracks.
