So far, the Marion County Day Report Center has helped nonviolent offenders get back on the right track.
Ted Offutt, director of the Day Report Center, explained the new program to the Marion County Commission in one of its four night meetings of the year.
The Day Report Center has received a grant for $134,000 from the State Community Corrections Board, he said.
The DRC saves taxpayers by keeping offenders out of jail, cutting out the expense of paying board.
“They’re in our program to improve their lives,” he said.
“This year we’re offering new classes, such as behavior intervention, parenting and battering prevention.”
