Meet-and-greet scheduled March 28

Citizens, officials invited to event planned by What Fairmont Needs Is ...

FAIRMONT — The WFNI (What Fairmont Needs Is ...) community group will be hosting a meet-and-greet between government officials and community members throughout the county.

Group member Teresa Wright said that the purpose of the meet-and-greet is to open up lines of communication between officials and residents.

“One thing that we noticed Fairmont really needs is communication between citizens and leaders,” Wright said.

The meet-and-greet will be held at 6 p.m. March 28 at the Barrackville Community Building.

    For the City of Mannington, the fair serves almost as a reunion, said Eva Yoho, treasurer of the Mannington District Fair Association. The fair provides a gathering point at which old friends, classmates and even visiting family members can catch up on each other’s lives.

  • URA is making progress on projects

    The Fairmont Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has been making progress on several projects in recent months.
    One of those projects is the Masonic Temple, which is located on Jefferson Street in downtown Fairmont and currently owned by the city. Kathy Wyrosdick, the city’s director of planning and development, said some progress has been made to start to restore the building, which was built in the 1900s.
