Red, white and blue were the main colors to see in Rivesville on Saturday, but this year they added a new color.
The town had its yearly Fourth of July celebration on Saturday with live entertainment and fireworks, as well as a first-ever frog-jumping contest for children, complete with live frogs.
“I’ve always wanted to do it,” said John Uveges, who organized the contest. “Me and my buddy caught some one time and got them in the road and started racing them, and the kids came from everywhere.”
So this year, he went out and caught more than a dozen frogs (with a permit from the Division of Natural Resources) to put together an event for the kids attending the event.
