FAIRMONT — Construction work has begun at the site of the future Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Fairmont.

Ground was broken May 13 for the hotel, located near the Middletown Mall at 20 Southland Drive. The three-story, 62-room facility is being built by Norco Construction, a general building contractor out of Summersville. It is expected to open at the end of this year.

The owner and developer of the hotel is Wilfong Hospitality LLC, based in Fairmont, and SKY Hospitality LLC is serving as the manager. SKY Hospitality also manages the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Morgantown, which Wilfong Hospitality owns as well, and locations in Buckhannon and Keyser.

“We’re excited about becoming a part of the community in Fairmont,” said Lori Brookshire, corporate director of sales and marketing for SKY Hospitality.

She said the properties of Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham are select-service hotels, but they go above and beyond what people anticipate.

“We call it a select-service hotel with a full-service heart,” Brookshire said. “We take the amenities of the hotels and we make it fantastic.”
