Separate trials for Windmill Park murders may not be held in Fairmont

FAIRMONT — The two men indicted for the 1974 Windmill Park murders will face separate trials for those triple homicides that shocked Marion County.

But whether those trials will be heard here is still in question.

In a pretrial motion hearing Tuesday, Marion County Circuit Judge Michael Aloi ruled that Eddie Jack Washington, 59, and Phillip; Reese Bush, 64, will be tried separately.

Washington’s trial is set for Aug. 27. Bush had been set to go to trial in May, but a new date has not been selected.

Attorneys for both men also filed for change of venue because of possible “local hostile sentiment.” Aloi will rule on that at a later time.
