Bob, the Marion County Humane Society’s proclaimed mascot, enjoys being outside when he can.
But at this time of the year, employee Amanda Allenby dresses him in a sweater when he is outside even for even a brief time.
Temperatures, which have been consistently below freezing early in the morning and late at night over the past week, are not safe for pets, Allenby said.
“It’s a very sad thing to see them out there shivering,” she said.
Hypothermia is not out of the question for pets who are kept outside. Pet owners are advised to keep their pets inside when temperatures are below freezing.
