Since 2004, Marion County has sent the same three delegates to Charleston every election.
Mike Caputo, Linda Longstreth and Tim Manchin have long been visible in the House of Delegates, and this year’s committee assignments raise the county’s profile.
Tim Manchin was appointed to vice-chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, one of the two most powerful committees in the House.
Speaker Rick Thompson, who made the announcement, said in a press release that “Delegate Manchin has never shied away from taking on big responsibilities in Charleston,” complimenting Manchin’s leadership as the chair of the House Political Subdivisions Committee and a special committee formed to propose Marcellus Shale legislation in 2012.
