FAIRMONT — Whether it be law enforcement arresting a drug dealer, a high school student encouraging peers to make right decisions or a counselor helping an individual overcome addiction, many people are fighting back against Marion County’s drug problem.
Last week, individuals fighting back came together to talk about the county’s drug epidemic.
One issue that came up was the prevention of drug use and that kids are starting to experiment with drugs at a younger age.
Representatives from the Family Resource Network (FRN), the Marion County Teen Taskforce (MCTT), and Drugs Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) all shared what they do to prevent others from using drugs.
Debbie Mann, coordinator of the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition with the FRN, said the MCTT is the youth branch of the FRN. She said the MCTT does mentor younger kids to not get involved with drugs in the first place.
