When it comes to substance abuse, making a difference in the U.S. is one thing, but making a difference in other countries along with the U.S. is a big accomplishment.
Gerry Schmidt, chief operations officer at Valley Healthcare, went to Hong Kong, China, a few months ago to train addiction treatment professionals who were preparing to get their licenses.
“I was there for about two weeks,” he said. “Training different aspects of addiction counseling to a large hospital.”
Schmidt trained about 80 treatment professionals in various different areas but all dealing with substance addiction.
“Anything from clinical supervision to assessment,” he said. “All the different kinds of training that you do.”
