FAIRMONT — A fire on Adams Street on Wednesday morning was put out with minimal damage thanks to the quick response from the Fairmont Fire Department and a little bit of luck.

No one was injured.

The incident, reported at the Hennen Building at 118 Adams St., was toned by 911 dispatchers around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday. Fairmont Fire Chief Jim Emerick said it was reported by a maintenance person who saw a lot of smoke on the second floor and water pooling on the first floor.

“We basically blocked the whole street for an hour or so,” he said, to make sure the fire didn’t spread.
