RACHEL — The Watergate scandal of the 1970s has found a place on the pages of history books across the country, but students at North Marion High School are doing more than just reading about the historical event.
NMHS English and journalism teacher Bill Stalnaker and Marion County Technical Center’s criminal justice instructor Ray Frasier decided to engage students in learning about the incident through a mock trial.
“It’s a good learning experience and it brings so many different programs together,” Frasier said.
Journalism, art, English, social studies, history and criminal justice students are participants in the trial and are learning about the legal process.
The trial began Wednesday afternoon with the arraignment, jury selection and opening statements from the prosecution and defense.
