Two men arrested on drug charges

FAIRMONT — Two men were arrested Sunday on drug charges following a routine traffic stop in Marion County.

Jerome Anthony Pleasant, 19, and Taquaun De’Shawn Hill, 20, both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, were arrested Sunday evening by the West Virginia State Police and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

According to the criminal complaint, officers pulled over a vehicle on Interstate 79 that was traveling 102 mph in a 70-mph zone. Pleasant was the driver of the vehicle.

The officer could smell a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle and called for backup. While calling for assistance, the officer noticed the passenger of the car, Hill, throw something out the window. A K-9 unit located two wrapped suspected heroin bricks. The street value of the substance is well over $1,000. Additional stamps of suspected heroin and a digital scale were found in Pleasant’s bookbag in the vehicle’s truck.

Bond is set for Pleasant at $100,600. He was also charged with reckless driving.

Bond for Hill is set at $100,000.
