Main Street program helps local businesses ‘spruce up their space’

Organization has $2,600 to go to owners, tenants of commercial buildings for facade, sign projects

FAIRMONT — Main Street Fairmont’s Sign and Facade Improvement Grant Program is helping downtown businesses invest in themselves.

The organization started the program in 2002 to clean up and beautify the buildings in downtown Fairmont.

“It is an effort to help people spruce up their space,” said Kate Greene, executive director of Main Street Fairmont.

She said the program is funded through the Governor’s Community Partnership Grants, which Main Street applies for every year and makes that money available to member businesses.
