McKinley pushes energy efficiency

Bipartisan legislation has been endorsed by more than 200 groups

FAIRMONT — After the housing market crash in 2008, construction and building are recovering, albeit slowly.

With the country building again, legislators in Washington believe these new buildings can be more energy-efficient than ever before.

Rep. David B. McKinley, a Republican representing West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, recently introduced the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness (ESIC) Act with co-sponsor Peter Welch, D-Vt.

According to McKinley’s office, this bipartisan bill will “spur the use of energy-efficiency technologies in residential, commercial and industrial buildings” while stimulating the economy, potentially creating new jobs.
