Students get outlook of the ‘real world’

North Marion High, Mannington Middle county participants in WV eMentoring

FAIRMONT — WV eMentoring is a career-exploration program through The Education Alliance that allows students in grades 8 through 12 to correspond with a mentor about potential career or post-secondary opportunities.

Dana Powell, a consultant for the program, said there are 15 counties throughout the state that are participating in the program. In Marion County, Mannington Middle School and North Marion High School have been involved.

Students in the program create an online profile based on their classes, hobbies and career aspirations and are provided with a list of volunteer mentors to choose from who match their criteria.
