Fairmont City Council members voted to adopt a resolution approving the fiscal year 2013-2014 city budgets.
The budgets were presented to council members by City Manager Jay Rogers and Finance Director Eileen Layman at a work session on Feb. 19. Layman said that the approved budgets vary little from the ones that were previously presented.
“There was one modification,” Layman said. “We did receive the levy rates from the state and the ad valorem tax (property tax) actually increased to $149,689. The modification was made to reduce the B&O (business and occupation) tax revenue so the revenues are consistent at $13,839,021 and operating expenditures matched that revenue level.”
