Marion Unity Apartments, an independent living community for the elderly and disabled, will be holding a fundraiser and flea market on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Veterans’ Square in Fairmont.
Money from the fundraiser will go toward buying the residents a new bus. The event will include food and drinks, a raffle for a 32-inch flat-screen television, face painting, 50-50 drawings, a flea market and entertainment.
The fundraiser was organized by the Marion Unity Apartments Residents’ Association. Joe Hooker, a resident and the assistant manager of MUA, was one of the main organizers of the event. Hooker says that the money raised will go toward “either a new bus, or a really good used one.”
