Comments on a road’s condition from a local Fairview resident may have prompted action.
During the Fairview Town Council meeting Monday, council member Jim Ammons said he had spoken to a resident who complained that Grant Street had deteriorated in the past few years.
“I know it’s gotten worse,” Ammons said.
Mayor Arley Simmons agreed that the road was already in bad shape.
To pave the entire road would cost approximately $35,000, according to Simmons, and would be good for approximately 12 years.
A loan that could be paid back over the span of 10 years was considered, but it was an option Simmons was concerned about pursuing. Taking out a loan could put a future council and mayor in debt.
