The City of Fairmont’s Fire Department will soon benefit from a new fire engine.
At Tuesday’s city council meeting, council adopted a resolution for the lease-purchase of a 2013 Pierce Responder 1250 GPM pumper.
According to Fire Chief Jim Emerick, this pumper will be replacing a 31-year-old engine that no longer meets requirements to be in service. The replacement of that engine was budgeted last year and was set to take effect in February, but an emergent situation called for the replacement a month early.
“Since the pump can’t pass a pump test, we have to replace it immediately,” Emerick said.
