After spending nearly two decades as executive director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Marion County, Marianne Moran has decided to retire and pursue other goals.
Moran, who joined the CVB on Feb. 1, 1993, will officially retire on Dec. 31. Leisha Elliott, who has been with the CVB for 18 months, will take on the role of interim executive director as of Jan. 1.
The CVB Board of Directors is throwing a retirement party for Moran on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Heston Farm Winery. The organization is sending out invitations soon, and members of the community are welcome to attend. People who would like to come are asked to call the CVB office at 304-368-1123 to RSVP.
Moran said she made many goals for herself during her career, and she has accomplished three of her main aspirations.
