‘Everything’s on track’ with Rivesville water project

FAIRMONT — Progress isn’t easy, and it certainly isn’t painless.

Over the past year, the town of Rivesville has been working through a long-planned overhaul of its water system, and though progress seems slow, they’ve already accomplished a lot.

“Everything’s on track,” said Mayor Jim Hershman.

The water project has been in the works for the better part of 10 years. Roughly one-third of the town’s water lines have been or will be replaced in the $3.5 million project, the mayor said.

Councilman and town worker Trevor Waters said that the work has been “coming along pretty smoothly.”

Currently workers are trying to transition from the old lines over to the new ones, a project that’s a little more difficult than it sounds.
