Since September of last year, the 400 block of Adams Street has been undergoing preparation for the construction of the new West Virginia State Office Complex.
The original state building was closed in February 2009 due to structural problems. Fairmont’s Reclaim Inc. won the bid to demolish the east side of the 400 block, and in November 2012, the Fairmont Theatre was the final building to be demolished in order to make way for the new state building.
