Mildred Louise Stottlemire, 88, of Fairmont, passed from this life Saturday (April 12, 2008) at the John Manchin Health Care Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Fairmont on Dec. 31, 1919, a daughter of the late Lewis and Blanche Vincent.
Louise was a homemaker and very loving grandmother. She had formerly been a member of the Salvation Army Church, where she was very active and really enjoyed helping others. She later joined the Trinity Assembly of God Church.
She loved reading, especially her Bible, listening to and singing gospel music, sitting on her swing on the front porch, working word puzzles, her cats and angels and especially her grand babies.
Mrs. Stottlemire is survived by three grandchildren, Robert Stahl, with whom she made her home, Edward Gillette and his wife Amy of Peoria, Ariz., and Lisa Mullen and her husband Frank of Bridgeport; seven great-grandchildren, Terry, Joseph and Beth Stahl, Skyler and Samantha Gillette, and Christina and Christopher Mullen; two great-great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Emerson and Claire Mullen; her brother and sister-in-law, Jack A. and Mary “Dot” Vincent of Green Valley, Ariz.; one nephew, Garrett Vincent and his wife Thelma of Minneapolis, Minn.; and her former granddaughter-in-law whom she claimed as her granddaughter, Mary Ann Beavan of Grafton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Toothman in 1961; her second husband, Ernest Stottlemire in 1991; her son, Lewis “Buddy” Toothman; and her daughter, Margaret Jean Stahl Gillette Chimel.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, today from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home today at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Fancher officiating. Interment will follow at the Vincent cemetery.
