Mary Elizabeth Palmer, 87, a resident of Wishing Well Manor, formerly of 8th Street, Fairmont, died early Friday morning (Sept. 28, 2007) in Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1920, in Marion County, daughter of the late A.B. and Madge Palmer.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She retired from Monongahela Power Co. in 1983 with 42 years of service, the last several as mail room supervisor.
She had been active in the Quota Club and the Business and Professional Women (BPW), both in Fairmont. She enjoyed traveling, bowling and spending time with her friends.
Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her parents, A.B. and Madge Hunsaker Palmer, brothers, Frank Palmer and George Palmer, and sisters-in-law, Virginia Wellock and Christine Palmer.
Honoring her request, her body was given to the Human Gift Registry of West Virginia University. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger Waybright officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
