James R. “Woody” Whitlatch, 56, of Monumental, went to be with the Lord Saturday (Sept. 29, 2007) after a lengthy battle with diabetes.
He was born Oct. 31, 1950, in Fairmont a son of the late Clarence “Tubby” and Leora Irene Whitlatch.
Woody was a grounds foreman for Fairmont State College for 25 years, and a graduate of Farmington High School in 1967. He enjoyed the outdoors and his two dogs, Jill and Frisky.
Woody is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara J. Mays Whitlatch, a daughter and son-in-law, Kemberley and Jimmy Shepphard of Monumental; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Marie Whitlatch of Kingmont; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Barbara and George Jackson of Clarksburg, Patricia and John Price of Flat Run, Mannington; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Woody was also preceded in death by a brother, Randy “Pudge” Whitlatch.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington today from 2 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens at Fairmont. Hutson Funeral Home.
